Learn a Traditional Chinese Instrument on Your Holiday

You can learn a traditional Chinese instrument right here in Jogja. During your holiday, you can take private guzheng lessons.

What is the guzheng?

The guzheng is a Chinese plucked zither. The modern version usually has 21 strings, with movable bridges that set the pitch.

The right hand plucks with picks on the fingers. The left hand presses the strings to bend the pitch and add vibrato.

What do 4 lessons cover?

Each session is 45 minutes, private 1 on 1. A rough picture:

• Session 1: posture, plucking and getting to know the strings.
• Session 2: the basic scale and simple plucking patterns.
• Session 3: your first short song.
• Session 4: polishing that song until it sounds good.

What if you cannot read music?

No problem. We start from zero and introduce notation slowly. You also get an Achievement & Progress Tracker to see your progress.

The tracker stays accessible forever and can be printed.

How to join the Holiday Program

• Open the Holiday Program page and pick a package.
• Pick a format: online, offline at the teacher's home, or offline at your place. Lessons at your place need your own guzheng, and there is a transport fee if the teacher's trip is over 20 minutes.
• Pick the day and time for each session, then send your registration.

After your holiday

If you enjoy it, you can keep learning from your home city through online lessons. Continuing works like a regular lesson class, and payment is always for a minimum of 4 sessions.
