Fanny Yu is a guzheng (古筝) player and singer based in Sleman, Yogyakarta. Visitors and newcomers can choose from 3 options:

• Holiday Program: short private guzheng (古筝) lessons, 1 on 1, 45 minutes per session, on a schedule you choose.
• Trial session: for a 1 to 3 day trip, try the guzheng (古筝) or take photos with a guzheng (古筝) while wearing hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing).
• Photoshoot: guzheng (古筝) and hanfu rental delivered to the place you pick, with help taking the photos.

What is the guzheng (古筝)?

The guzheng (古筝) is a Chinese plucked zither. The modern version usually has 21 strings, with movable bridges that set the pitch.

The right hand plucks the strings with picks on the fingers. The left hand presses the strings to add the vibrato and the curved notes the instrument is known for.

What do you learn in 4 sessions?

Each session is 45 minutes, private 1 on 1. A rough outline:

• Session 1: sitting posture, plucking, and getting to know the strings.
• Session 2: the basic scale and simple plucking patterns.
• Session 3: your first short song.
• Session 4: polishing that song until it sounds lovely.

How to join the Holiday Program

• Choose your class format: online, offline at the teacher's home, or offline at your place. Classes at your place use your own guzheng (古筝), and a transport fee applies when the teacher's trip is longer than 20 minutes.
